We stopped by the local Big Box Lumber and Hardware Supply store yesterday and to our amazement ½ inch CDX plywood was $70 per sheet, more or less triple the price a year ago. So, if you are asking if now is good time to sell your trees? Our answer is YES.
We know that if the plywood price is $70 per sheet, then there has to be more money for the owner of the tree, the skidder, the truck, and the mill, as well as the BIG BOX Store.
Since 1906 The A. Johnson Co. LLC, a hardwood sawmill in Bristol, has provided Vermont woodlot owners with a reliable market for their logs. We’ve strived to be your good neighbor down the road. A mill doesn’t stay in this business this long without taking care of its suppliers of logs and standing timber. We pay competitive prices, on scale that is fair and consistent.
With current high prices for logs, and standing timber, we are astonished that more woodlot owners are not harvesting their timber. We’ve concluded that many owners are not yet aware of just how much market conditions have improved, and with some prices at historical highs. That’s why we are writing to you. If your Use Value Plan calls for a harvest, we encourage you to contact your forester as soon as you can, so that you may benefit from the sharp rise in prices. If you do not have a forester, we have licensed foresters on staff who can help you with a sustainable harvest that complies with your personal goals and your Use Value Plan. Or if you just want to learn more about your options, give us a call. Don’t miss your chance to take advantage of the strongest market of hardwood logs and timber in 20 years.
